I'm Nicola Henderson, and I'm The Thinkology® Coach
I am a mum of 2 neurodivergent boys and a wife to an amazing husband.
I have taught Thinkology® as 1-1 coaching, as a parent and child led coaching and prior to Covid I was working in local schools facilitating workshops to primary and secondary children.
It's such a powerful tool in understanding how our thinking works at an individual level.
Our Everyday Thinkology® helps us to understand who we uniquely are and how we create our own experience within the world.
My clients become happier because they understand themselves and know that they can help themselves when they are stuck in unhelpful thinking.
From anxiety and confidence issues, to emotional regulation difficulties, I address a range of challenges including:
- Anxiety and Its Physical Effects: Helping children cope with symptoms such as nausea and headaches as well as school worries and friendship challenges.
- Confidence and Self-Esteem: Supporting teens in navigating feelings of overwhelm and pressure to succeed.
- Emotional Regulation: Assisting children in understanding and managing their emotions effectively.
"I get less angry, less anxious, less sad, less destructive (like breaking stuff). More happy, more positive, more Me. I feel like the best Me. I’ve learned that I'm a nicer person now that I was. I was very angry, always sad. You’ve helped me understand people get angry". - Anonymous, Primary 6
How I Support Your Young Person
I don't use a one-size-fits all approach. I may use one or a mixture of the methods below to support your young person based on their needs and level of understanding, and always in an age-appropriate manner.
Teaching Self Awareness
When your child understands how their thoughts and thinking works, they are less inclined to focus on unhelpful thinking. They realize that what they focus on is what they experience more of.
Interactive Exercises
Engaging activities for your child such as 'thought' experiments and age-appropriate creative challenges using materials such as modelling clay to show how thought works and to reinforce learning by using practical techniques.
NLP and Visualisation
Harnessing the power of neuro-linguistic programming and visualization techniques to inspire positive thinking in a way that makes sense to your child at their level.
Somatic Techniques
Utilizing breathwork, reflexology-based methods, and touch exercises to reduce stress and anxiety that they have in the moment.
“The lessons came at the best time, a lot has happened and this has helped me get through it. I would have the lesson, and then I used what I learned to deal with things through the week. It was easier to deal with all the ‘stuff’." - Derri, Teenager
The Thinkology® approach doesn't just transform children; it empowers parents too.
As a parent, I know what it's like to feel helpless when it comes to dealing with our children's emotion issues. We can read all the books and search the internet far and wide, but this often just makes it even more difficult to identify how we can really understand what our child needs.
The Thinkology® method is parent and child focused and through active participation and engagement, you will gain:
Insight and Understanding: You will gain valuable insights into your child's challenges and learning process.
Improved Communication: You will be able to foster open and positive communication around emotions and feelings.
Shared Bonding Experience: You'll experience a unique bonding journey through shared learning and understanding with your child.
Experience reduced tension, stress, and negativity as harmony and balance are restored at home.
"I would highly recommending working with Nicola to help with anxiety; both me and my child have learned things that will help us forever." - Catherine
Everyday Thinkology® is different because it is child focused and tailored to your individual child’s needs and issues.
When I work with your child 1-1, I do not have a set of tick boxes and criteria that needs to be met.
Thinkology® takes it back to your individual child’s thinking. How they work and how they understand their feelings and emotions. How their feelings and emotions are never stuck and helps them to learn about the power of their thinking.
The lessons focus on 3 key elements of thought/thinking.
⭐How thought is created the same for everyone.
⭐How your individual thoughts have been created and what you can do to ‘think’ better.
⭐How thought works for others and what we can understand from knowing about other people.
Alongside all of the ‘thought’ learning is a set of tools and techniques to change the thinking in the moment and also to reduce panic, stress and anxiety. These are somatic (body) exercises that help to reduce emotional stress in the body because we think things in our mind but we feel them in our body.
To help the mind we also need to process the feelings and emotions within our body.
Traditional methods of counselling and therapies usually focus on the mind/ emotions/ trauma and miss out on the body part. We think things in our mind but we feel them within our body.
Everyday Thinkology® helps your child and you to have self-awareness and gives you the tools that can be used throughout your whole life.
When you think better, you feel better.
“I learned different ways to deal with problems and it worked better than what I normally do. The glasses lesson helped because we learned that it depended on how people were feeling and how to deal with it. ”
Jessica
Primary 6
“I feel more free, like whatever has been holding me back has finally left. I feel like I can handle my emotions easier and in consequence have a larger and stronger driving force getting me through life. It has helped me find my wings and I am ready to fly”
Erin
Teenager
“I feel that we can move forward and deal with things as they arise, and that we are both on the same page – I’m using the words and language that Nicola used with her, so that helps my daughter remember what she has been taught and makes it easier for her to use the learning she has.”

Any Questions?
These are the most common questions I get asked, but if there's something not answered for you - you can ask me HERE.
Yes. Thinkology increases self-awareness and teaches an understanding of how anxiety is created from your thinking. We think things with our mind, and then we feel them in our body. The understanding helps your child to realise when anxiety or anxious states are happening and it helps them to shift or change their focus to reduce the anxious thinking. There are also tools and techniques for reducing anxiety as it arises.
More about Me!
My main passion in life is to teach children all about their thoughts and thinking.
I have worn many hats over the years. Nanny in the USA, History student, Offshore stewardess, Kindergarten assistant are some of the most significant ones. I always had a dream to be a teacher and trained as a Steiner Waldorf teacher prior to having children.
I decided to change my career path after having my boys and I trained as a Coach, NLP practitioner and Hypnotherapist. The training really helped me personally as I was going through some challenging times with my oldest son. I was experiencing Anxiety and low self-confidence and he was also having issues related to his ASD.
There were very limited resources available to help my son and myself. I couldn't access any support or counselling that was child focused, or even ones that could help my child to understand just where his anxiety was coming from.
This is when I decided to focus solely on children's wellbeing coaching.
Soon after, I was introduced to a different approach to mental health and emotional well-being.
This training looked at mindset and emotional well-being from a perspective that any feeling, emotion or behaviour all begins in thought. This understanding totally transformed my own life and my mindset and had a huge affect on my children too.
